HPCC is developing plans for fuel reduction in the Kosma Road area at the top of Lewis Road. We are planning to expand on the work already completed in this area, and extend a fuel break to the West Arm Park boundary. This fuel break is intended to protect Harrop from a fire approaching from the southwest.
On November 28th at the Harrop Hall, HPCC forest manager Erik Leslie provided an update on our community forest’s climate change risk assessment and operations strategy. Community wildfire protection planning in Harrop and Procter were discussed in detail. See link to the presentation:

The Harrop-Procter Community Cooperative Scholarship will be awarded to a secondary school graduate who is a resident of the Harrop-Procter community. Applicants must be enrolled in a 1st year program, pursuing an education through a Technical/Trades School, College, or University. Studies related to Forestry, Environmental Studies, and Sciences will be given priority consideration but other areas of study will be considered where appropriate.
